Promise Ring, Hand Appliqué Template – Free Download

The promise ring quilt was made with the Leaves Galore Grande and Petite templates. If you don’t have the templates you can still make this quilt with just one leaf shape, and the arc to mark your rings. Rings will be made with bias strips, but use the arc for placement of the bias strips on the background fabrics. Both the leaves and flowers are made by using the 2 ½” leaf shape as the inside measurement. Use your favorite hand appliqué method or do needle turn as follows.

Make a plastic template of the 2 ½” leaf, trace with a removable marking pencil on the right side of the fabric. I like the Bohin chalk pencil. Add a scant ¼” seam allowance by eye as you cut. Turn the seam allowance under using the tip of your needle, making sure you can not see the marked line on the front of the patch. Turn under ¼ to ½” at a time and stitch by hand.
