Who else is going to AQS Quilt Week in Syracuse? Joanne and I will be in booth # 1821 with all our Sue Pelland Designs products. We do demos all day long so stop by and learn about the Leaves Galore and Hearts and More templates. Even if you’ve seen our demos before, we are always adding new tips and techniques to our talk so it is worth a stop.
On Thursday the 28th, I will be in the Learning Center at 1 PM showing you my Fusible Drunkard’s Path method. This is an easy way to accomplish the drunkard’s path block without difficult piecing. The design opportunities with this block are endless.
If you haven’t been to an AQS show before, you are in for a treat. The competition quilts are always breathtaking. You will see quilts from many of the top quilters in the country. There are also several special exhibits that will appeal to a wide variety of quilters.
If you love art and art quilts, check out the SAQA People and Portraits exhibit, the World Painter’s Challenge, and Painting with Fiber and Thread by Melinda Bula.
Interested in new twists on traditional blocks? Don’t miss the New York Beauty quilts from the National Quilt Museum. These are the quilts from the latest New Quilts from an Old Favorite competition. I saw these in April at the museum and it is so fun to see how people adapt a traditional pattern in a new way.
For appliquérs there are two exhibits that are sure to impress – Late Bloomer: Art Quilts by Diane Evans and Jacobean Applique: Patricia Campbell Quilts.
History buffs will enjoy The Presidential & Patriotic Collection of Sue Reich will walk you through all of our country’s presidents with quilts made with presidential textiles and patterns. This exhibit was in Paducah and also at the New England Quilt Museum.
