Ahead of the Curve Membership
Frequently Asked Questions
Q: How many workshops can I take each month?
A: One workshop is included with your membership. Additional workshops can be purchased with your coupon code on the website.
Q: How do I find out what workshops are available each month?
A: Log into your account. On the sidebar, look for the member content area. On that page, click on the photo that says Advanced Registration for Workshops. Sue will show projects from the upcoming workshops (for the following month) on the 2nd Tuesday of each month on Facebook Live at 11am. You can watch the replay at any time after that.
Q: How much does a workshop normally cost?
A: 4 hour workshops are $49, 6 hour workshops are $69 and 8 hour workshops are $99
Q: What if I can’t attend the LIVE workshop that I registered for?
A: A recording of the LIVE workshop will be sent to all participants within one week of the last day of the workshop.
Q: How do I register for the workshop that I choose for my FREE workshop?
A: Members have a coupon code that is active as long as they are a member. The coupon code is “FREE00” where you change 00 to the month of the workshop. For example, Free10 is the coupon code for October workshops. Just put the workshop in your cart, and use the coupon code when you check out. If for any reason doesn’t work, please communicate with Penny and she will help you get started!
We will need 48 hours to get you into the system, so please don’t wait until the last minute! SPD is closed on Saturday and Sunday, so please make your request during normal business hours Monday – Friday, 10am EST to 5pm EST. You can reach Penny at email@example.com
Within a day or two, you will receive confirmation of your workshop choice, a supply list and the Zoom invitation. Then two days before the workshop you will get a reminder with the Zoom invitation and a student supplement for you to print (not all workshops have a student supplement). Please contact Sue@suepellanddesigns.com the day before the workshop if you do not get a ZOOM invitation. On workshop day, we often do not check e-mail because we are busy getting ready for the workshop.
Q: What if I change my mind, and I want to take a different workshop?
A: Penny can change your workshop choice as long as there is room in the workshop you wish to take. Send her an e-mail to see if there is room.
Q: What supplies are required for the workshops?
A: We will be using the Leaves Galore and Hearts & More templates in each workshop. If you have the full set of seven templates, you can take any workshop that we offer. A supply list with fabric requirements will be sent to you once you register. This supply list tells you the specific tools you will need. The supply lists are also under the description of the workshop in the shop.
Q: What skill level is needed for the workshops?
A: Workshops are grouped into Level One workshops and Level Two workshops. Level One workshops are for people who are new to Rotary Cut Applique. Once you feel confident with your cutting skills, you can take level one or level two workshops!
Q: I’m not a beginner. Will the online workshops still be interesting and challenging?
A: Sue’s Rotary Cut Applique techniques are pretty unique! There are unique approaches to laying out applique blocks, and using applique to replace curved piecing techniques in quilts such as Orange Peel and Drunkard’s Path. There are new and innovative techniques that will satisfy even the most seasoned quilter! Once you learn a wide variety of techniques, you will start to incorporate them into your own quilt designs.
COUPON CODE: Members get an 11% discount on any online orders
Q: Can I share my coupon code with others?
A: No, the coupon code is your member benefit and cannot be transferred.
Q: What is the coupon code good for on the SPD website?
A: The coupon code (11%) is deducted from your order total. Any items in your cart including additional workshops are discounted. SPD carries a wide range of notions, books, patterns, fabrics and thread.
Q: How do I join the Private Facebook Community?
A: Penny will send you an invitation to the Private Facebook Community, Ahead of the Curve by e-mail. You can also search out the group on Facebook and ask to join. Only Ahead of the Curve members will be approved to join. This creates a safe environment where members can share!
Q: What can I do in the Facebook Group?
A: Watch the Facebook Live events and the replay if you miss the FB Live. Meet other members. Post photos of your projects. Ask questions and get answers. Leave encouraging comments on other people’s photos. Watch our community grow!
Payment and Committment:
Q: How do I sign up for membership?
A: Add the membership to your cart, and check out. When you sign up and pay $49 for your first month, you are subscribing to the membership. Your credit card will be billed on the same day each month the $49 monthly fee. As long as you are a member you get a free workshop of your choice every month, plus the coupon code for discounts, and access to the Facebook group.
Q: When will my membership benefits start?
A: Once we have your order, you will begin getting a few e-mails from me explaining how to register for your first workshop! Your benefits start immediately and you can choose your first workshop. If you register late in the month, you can choose to start your workshops the following month.
Q: How long does the membership last?
A: You can stay a member for as long as you are enjoying the program! New workshops will continue to be offered, and you can stay active in the Facebook community as long as you are a member!
Q: When I want to stop the membership, how do I do that?
A: You have complete control over your membership. In your customer profile, there is a link to the membership and you can end the membership there at any time.
Q: If I don’t sign up for a workshop one month, can I get a refund?
A: No refunds will be given for missed workshops. If you sign up for a workshop, you can watch it live or you can watch the video that will be sent to you. It is your responsibility to sign up for the workshop of your choice. Please e-mail Sue or Penny if there is an issue where you will be unable to take workshops for a period of time. We can suspend your membership in these cases, but we must know ahead of the missed months.
Q: My question was not answered. How do I contact you?
A: The best way to contact Sue Pelland Designs is by e-mail: firstname.lastname@example.org
