FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
LIVE ONLINE WORKSHOPS
on the ZOOM MEETING platform
The ZOOM platform allows all participants to be together in one place for a Live Online Workshop. Join friends across the country and take a workshop together! Meet new quilting friends just like you would at an in-person workshop. Get your girlfriends together for a night out. Call your sister to take a workshop together. Get your quilt guild involved and we can make a workshop especially for your group or guild.
Q: What computer equipment do I need to join the ZOOM meeting?
A: Download ZOOM on your computer, tablet or your phone with a camera. Join with Audio and Video to get the best workshop experience.
Q: Once I have registered, how do I join the meeting?
A: An E-mail ZOOM invitation will be sent to you days before the event, and a reminder will be sent a couple days before the workshop. Simply click on the link in the e-mail and the zoom meeting will open automatically.
Q: I’m a bit Technologically Challenged! Will I be able to do this?
A: No technical expertise is necessary! Once you do it a few times, it will seem easy!
Q: Will we get to make the project during the workshop?
A: YES! Students will work at home with their own supplies on their own sewing machines to get the project started during workshop time. There may be some homework to finish up or homework between workshops when it is a multi-session workshop.
Q: What if I can’t be there on the day and time of the Workshop I choose? What if my internet fails or I can’t get my audio or video to work?
A: Participants get a video recording of the Live ZOOM Workshop approximately a week after the workshop ends. You can watch at any time and it is almost like being there! You can ask questions via e-mail or on our public RCA Facebook group if anything is unclear. All ZOOM meetings are recorded and you will be asked permission to be on the recording.
Q: I don’t want to be seen in the meeting. Can I see you without you seeing me?
A: YES. Participants can join the meeting then turn off video and/or audio. I will see that you are participating but I won’t see you or your messy sewing room! Bad hair day…we don’t care, we are all friends here! I really hope you will join with Video, so I can see you and your project. It is easier for me to help you when I can see what you are working on, but that is completely up to you! You can turn your video and audio on if you change your mind during the workshop.
