Will you be going to MQX in April this year? If you go, come and see the winners of the Sue Pelland Designs Appliqué Challenge.
Most of you already know about our first ever Appliqué Design Challenge. There is still time to join if you act quickly, as photos of your quilt are due at the Sue Pelland Designs studio along with your entry form by January 31. If you are chosen as a finalist, your quilt will travel with me over the next year to five national quilt shows and the finalist quilts need to be sent to me in February.
If you want to get in on the fun we can send you one of the last remaining challenge packets for only $10. Your challenge is to create an original quilt design using appliqué elements that you can cut with the Leaves Galore and/or Hearts and More templates. All designers will start with one of four Cameo panels by Kaffe Fassett for FreeSpirit and may use one or two green fabrics provided in the packet to unify the display of finalists quilts. The package also includes Mistyfuse™ which you know is my favorite fusible.
A 30″ x 30″ finished quilt gives you space to create your own design with appliqué elements made with our tools. Quilts will be judged on the best use of the rotary cut appliqué shapes and the best overall design. Please read the rules carefully before beginning your project and before submitting your quilt.
Your packet includes a Cameo Panel (4 colors to select from), 1 1/2 yards x 20″ wide Mistyfuse™ and two fat eighths of green Kaffe fabrics, entry guidelines and challenge rules. The entry fee and return shipping of finalist quilts are included in the cost of the challenge kit. You can order your packets at SuePellandDesigns.com.
The prizes for this challenge are $300 for first place, $200 for second place and $100 for third place. Each of the three winners will also go home with a prize package sponsored by Sue Pelland Designs, Attached Inc, FreeSpirit, Quilter’s Dream Batting and Aurafil.
