I realized today that it is the third day of Hanukkah, the Festival of Lights! If you are celebrating with your family today, you are probably not reading my blog.

One of the things I love to do around the holidays is to make gifts for people in my life who would not normally expect a gift. Last year I made Bowl Cozies for the 26 employees at my local coffee shop! Why, you ask? There are five or six women who work there that make my coffee for me and my husband every morning. They don't even ask, they just make my coffee when they see me waiting in line. Some days we are chatty, some days I am not so friendly. Remember, it is morning and I haven't yet had my coffee!
Do you get bored with your projects midstream? Do you have more UFOs than finished projects this year? I have the worst case of bright, shiny object syndrome of any quilter I know! But you would be so proud of me!
Over the years I have been slowly learning how to use the Electric Quilt software This week we installed an upgrade to our EQ software, EQ8. Kari Schell is my EQ expert. I met Kari at CABS, the Creative Arts Business Summit that I went to last year. The best thing about CABS was meeting such wonderfully knowledgeable people. In the last year, my knowledge of drawing appliqué blocks has grown by leaps and bounds with Kari's guidance.
Since it is Christmas time, I want to share this pretty quilt with you! One time at Quilt Festival in Houston, I spotted an antique quilt that I really, really wanted to buy.
Our latest holiday pattern using the Hearts and More templates is Christmas Baubles. This pattern is quick to make if you need a last minute handmade gift.
Wouldn't it be fun to cut circles out of fabrics containing your favorite animals? A kitty tree would be just adorable! Nancy Sullivan, one of my Certified Instructors, made her pretty quilt using bright red cardinals in some of the circles.
Will you be going to MQX in April this year? If you go, come and see the winners of the Sue Pelland Designs Appliqué Challenge.
Do you have a special group that you belong to and quilt with? I hope you do. These guilds, bees, mini groups, internet groups or charity groups spring up out of sharing a love for something. If you weren't a quilter, you would seek out friends who love to do what you do. Book groups, garden clubs, church groups....you get the picture!
Thank you to all of you for your encouragement about keeping up with the 31 day blog writing challenge! Thanks to my sister, Maria, the blog is and comments are now working properly. So please leave me comments below, and I promise to read them and hopefully find time to respond to them!
