Last November, I was able to spend some time with Rosa Rojas at the Pinwheels Quilt Show in Sturbridge, MA. Rosa is a native of Spain, but travels frequently to the US, Mexico and France to promote her Apliquick techniques and products.

A recent visitor to the booth made us smile when she said "I've watched your videos so many times, they talk back to me - 'not you again'".
That is exactly why I made the videos - so you can watch and learn - as many times as you need. You can access the videos from my website or directly in YouTube by searching on "Sue Pelland Designs".
There is still time to enter the Newsletter Name contest and win this great prize!! I plan to send out more frequent newsletters with more useful tips and techniques for applique. The newsletter will be getting a new format, new features such as our Applique Tip of the Week, and a new name!
You can help me come up with a creative new quilty name for my newsletter If you play along, you will be entered into a drawing for a 10 yard pack of Mistyfuse® (7 yards white, 3 yards black) and this beautiful Jelly Roll from Benartex called Tie Dye Batiks.
What is in my coffee mug while I am busy stitching my fusible appliqué? NOT COFFEE!
I was at Genesee Valley Quilt Fest recently, and seeing many of my favorite customers who have all my tools. Everyone enjoys watching the demonstration and a good percentage of customers go home with at least one template, if not all seven. Yet at the shows I often hear "I have not yet removed the shrink wrap!" That makes me sad! I invented these tools to help you be more productive and creative. So how do I get my customers to use the tools they have purchased?
I am happy to announce my first ever Appliqué Design Challenge. You know how much I love Mistyfuse and FreeSpirit fabrics so I'm excited to have them as co-sponsors. Your challenge is to create an original quilt design using any appliqué elements that you can cut with my Leaves Galore and/or Hearts and More templates. All designers will start with one of four Cameo panels by Kaffe Fassett for FreeSpirit. Your final quilt will be 30" x 30" which gives you space to create your own design of applique elements around the Cameo panel.
As I sit for a few moments before the Thanksgiving crowd comes in the door, I'm sitting down with a cappuccino and counting my blessings, and you are one of my greatest gifts!
Two exciting things are happening with Hearts and More this week. First, Generation Q magazine is blogging about and having a contest to win my book and a small set of Hearts and More tools and a copy of my new book! They have asked readers to comment on what you would write on the hearts in this sweet little Conversation Hearts quilt! In the comments below, I will put a link to the Generation Q contest so you can go, write a sweet saying, and win a copy of my book and tools!
Sue, Donna, and Linda Gosselin, a SPD Certified Instructor, belong to Thimble Pleasures Quilt Guild and we recently revealed our 2016 Challenges. The theme for challenge was "modern". To participate, we purchased a bag that contained two fat quarters and two crayons. We had to use both the fabrics in the bag but could add four additional fabrics as long as they matched the colors of the crayons. The fat quarters were a Kona white and a gray fabric with some circles and helped unify the finished pieces.
Who else is going to AQS Quilt Week in Syracuse? Joanne and I will be in booth # 1821 with all our Sue Pelland Designs products. We do demos all day long so stop by and learn about the Leaves Galore and Hearts and More templates. Even if you’ve seen our demos before, we are always adding new tips and techniques to our talk so it is worth a stop.
