I am getting ready to head to Portland, Oregon with my daughter, Lauren and my niece Candice. We will be in booth 941 at Quilt Market, and are excited to be part of this exciting wholesale event. I hope many of the West Coast shops will check out what the East Coast girls are doing, by participating in the East Coast Girls are Hip Booth Hop!

I’ll bet there will be plenty of Canadian Quilt Shops on hand at this great North West show. I was so pleased to find this link to the Vancouver Modern Quilt Guild blog.

It always amazes me when a tragedy strikes, how quilters are instantly mobilized to do what they do best. Stitching brightly colored fabrics together into a pattern of joy that can be shared with others. New Newsletter and Facebook Photos

Dear Friends, I have just learned how to add albums to Facebook, so “like” Sue Pelland Designs on Facebook, then you can see great new photos like this one from the Melissa’s Quilt Class with Quilters by the Sea, in Portsmouth RI!

My website is undergoing updates to make it easier to use including a “where to buy” page. If you see Sue Pelland Design patterns, template or the Quilter’s Chalk Line while you are out at quilt shops, drop me a note and I will add all our retailers to the “where to buy” page.

I lose track of who carries my templates because I sell through distributors, so I need your help!

Coming Attractions: Video Production with Bonnie McCaffery

This week we filmed four new videos for my website and YouTube with Bonnie McCaffery in PA. It was a pleasure working with such a professional photographer and quilter who understands just what my customers need in an instructional quilting video. Bonnie is a internationally known quilter who developed many new and inventive techniques including fantasy floral quilts, and painted faces on quilts. Nestled in the foothills of the Pocono mountains in rural Pennsylvania, Bonnie’s studio is right next to the home where she and her husband raised three beautiful daughters. You will find photos of her favorite models, her daughters and grandchildren, as you look around the high tech studio.

The four videos that we shot are lessons for Rotary Cut Applique using the Leaves Galore templates. They feature segments on applying Mistyfuse, cutting basic applique shapes with a rotary cutter, additional products to make rotary cut applique more successful, using my Quilter’s Chalk line and marking quilting designs with Leaves Galore. As soon as the footage is edited, I will post four all new videos on my website and Youtube. Watch for them, coming soon to a computer near you!

Byrne Sewing Center Dates Postponed

Beautiful snowy day!

Well, I was all geared up for the snow of the century, but it was a disappointing 18″ of snow here in Upton. Oh, the drifts make it look like more than it was, but not nearly as bad as expected. The good news is:

The book release party is still on at Charlton Sewing Center, Tomorrow, Feb 10 from 12 to 4.
I have electricity and can bake for the party!
I have electricity and can sew for the rest of the day, after baking.
I expect to get out on time on Monday for my flight to Dallas. I am teaching at Quilt Mercantile in Celeste, TX on Feb 12 and 13.

The bad news is:

My snowshoes are in there

It is my New Year’s Resolution to get some QUIPS (QUI lts in ProgresS) finished before starting all the new quilts in my head. So here is my challenge: If you finish a Leaves Galore Quilt (from one of my patterns) during January, I will send you a free pattern of your choice. Just post a photo to my facebook page or to my website and leave a comment with your home address. I would love to see what you all are working on!

Here is the first quilt submitted for this challenge! Congrats to Nancy Pearle Cote who finished this beautiful quilt. Look at the fantastic job she did on the ribbon border. Well done Nancy!

Free Bottles!

I am making room in my storage area for 96 boxes of books, and I came across a case of plastic bottles with spout caps. These 16 oz LDPE bottes with yorker caps are great for mixing dye when you dye fabrics. I am giving them away for the cost of shipping them to you. Please write if you want any!

Successful Quilt Market and Festival in Houston

Quilt Market and Festival was an exciting time for Sue Pelland Designs! We met some wonderful new and old friends, both wholesale and retail customers. This photo is of Cyn Wilde, a teacher at Quilter’s Cottage in Richmond Texas. Cyn made our Christmas Ribbons pattern and such a lovely job! Christmas Ribbons was beautifully quilted by Mary Beth Reynolds. It is always exciting for me to see how my patterns are interpreted and how successful the quilters are in using my templates! Thank you to Cyn for sharing her talent with us!
